Profile
Revd Dr Carol Tomlin is an ordained minister and multi award-winning educator with a long and distinguished academic career teaching in universities nationally and internationally. She held various leadership roles in academia and taught subjects such as English and Education Studies. She was also an Erasmus lecturer in Holland and a visiting tutor at The Queen’s Foundation, Birmingham and is currently a visiting fellow at the University of Leeds. As the apostolic leader of Restoration Fellowship Ministries, a former healthcare chaplain, and the founding Principal of the Kingdom School of Theology, her calling is to train and equip Christian leaders with the tools to serve effectively in the Kingdom of God. She has ministered in countries such as Ghana, Belize and America. The global impact of her ministry has been recognised by Wisdom for Women International, which awarded her an Inspirational Woman Award (2024). She has won several other awards/scholarships, for example, a university teaching award from the University of Wolverhampton and fellowships from the prestigious British Academy/ACU(Association of Commonwealth Universities) and UCET (Universities Council for the Education of Teachers). As a practical theologian and homiletic (preaching) scholar, she received a Black Pentecostal Scholarship and Literature Award (2023) from the Alliance for Black Pentecostal Scholarship, a part of the Society for Pentecostal Studies, for her book Preach It: Understanding African Caribbean Preaching. As an author of numerous academic publications, she has co-authored works with Dr Paul Mocombe, for example, Jesus and the Streets and Dr Victoria Showunmi Understanding and Managing Sophisticated and Everyday Racism. Carol presents interviews on podcasts, radio and social media, such as “How Pentecostals Pray through the Pandemic” for the BBC World Service. As a gifted orator, she is often invited as a keynote speaker at national and international academic conferences and faith-based forums. With a fascination for people, she particularly enjoys travelling and socialising.
